Who is the Novelly Youth Podcast Host?

Every academic school year, 4 alumni of the SPEAK! Program at Novelly will host one season of the “Read to Heal” Podcast by Novelly.  A Novelly Youth Ambassador is expected to:

• Serve one term of 10 months that will begin in August and end in June
• Spend 3-5 hours per week on meetings, interviews and/or assignments
• Be an unpaid volunteer at this time, depending on donations, grants, and funding

Who is eligible to be a Youth Podcast Host?

• A teenager currently enrolled in high school
• An alumnus of the SPEAK! Leadership program
• Have 1+ years of involvement with Novelly and demonstrated significant growth as a public speaker and leader during that time
• Cannot be a current intern, staff member, or member of the Board of Directors of Novelly

What are the responsibilities of a Youth Podcast Host?

As a co-host of Novelly’s Read to Heal Podcast, the Youth Podcast Host will record episodes and will interview writers within the Novelly community. This podcast models casual courageous conversations about important issues using youth literature. Novelly Ambassadors are expected to prepare pitches, outlines, and interview questions for the episodes that they will be co-hosting. They are not expected to produce, publish, edit, find guests, or manage the planning and logistics for any of the speaking engagements. This will be handled by Novelly’s Podcast Producer.

What are the responsibilities of a Novelly Ambassador?

During the course of their term, Novelly ambassadors will be responsible for:

• Prioritizing meetings and attending them on time
• Being an active community member and role model on the Novelly web app
• Planning and creating high-quality experiences for guests on the podcast episodes
